Lana Del Rey
Biography

Lana Del Rey is a pseudonym of Elizabeth Wooldridge Grant, born on 21st of June in 1985. She works in a rather rare subgenre of pop which borrow heavily from some metal subgenres – baroque pop, dream pop. There is something undeniably gothic and romantic about her image. New Yorker since childhood, her venture into show business began when she was 20 years old. At that time, she did a few unsuccessful attempts at self-publishing, both under her real name and as May Jailer. Some of these recording later surfaced as leaked copies, but no official release was ever made. First release was done in 2008, thanks to producer David Kahne, who helped with extended play “Kill Kill”. Self-titled debut album came out in early 2010, and had trouble staying available for purchase – it was pulled and re-released later. She moved to London after this release and started recording “Born to Die” there, thanks to a contract with Interscope Records and Polydor who were impressed by her music videos “Blue Jeans” and “Video Games”. Album was released in 2012 and became one of bestsellers of this year, with only four albums selling more. As this was not enough, she released extended play “Paradise” in that same year, and received Grammy nomination for it. As of early 2017, Lana released two more albums and planned to release “Lust for Life” sometime later this year.
