Is U2, recently concluded concert tour (the best-selling tour ever, period!),said to mark the end of the historic bands journey as well? Not if lead band member, Bono, is allowed to have his way. In a latest interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Bonowaxed lyrical, stating, "I'm not sure the future hasn't dried up," using words from his 1988 hit “Rattle and Hum”. That’s basically the greatest musician ever, (allegedly) telling everyone to just cool it with all the relevancy questions. Bono will never grow old.
The band, however, is all set to take a trip down memory lane with the re-release of its groundbreaking “Achtung Baby,” scheduled for 1st Nov. The album signified a major shift in the Irish bands’ sound – abandoning the more popular beats of its “The Joshua Tree” days and heralding its entry into a more dance related realm. The Edge reminisces "I always remember the intense embarrassment when I happened to be in a club and a generous-spirited DJ would put on one of our tunes from the War album," adding, "It was so evident we had never been thinking about how it would go down in clubs."
The newly re-mastered album is to be made available in multiple editions to mark its twenty years since release. Get ready to get your hands on the “Uber Deluxe Edition” – which more lives up to its name and shall be released on six CDs. Other additional goodies include an 84-page long book, outlining the bands thoughts and experiences, four digital video copies, five old-school vinyl records, and lots more.
The new issue is also expected to include significant b-side material, with a version of “Down All the Days”, a song that would eventually go through dramatic alterations and surface as “Numb” on the bands 1993 outing “Zoorpa.”
Unlike other topics, the band was a little less forthcoming on news regarding the heir to its 2009 release “No Line on the Horizon.” Bono would only say, “we have so many [new] songs, some of our best," before concluding, "I’m putting some time aside to just go and get lost in the music." While the Edge teased, "It's quite likely you might hear from us next year, but it's equally possible that you won't."
