You probably never thought that famous song 'Happy Birthday to You', on the entire globe, belongs to someone, namely the Warner/Chappell Music association.
This means that every time the song was used for commercial purposes, someone had to pay royalties to the above mentioned company.
Judge George H. King found that the copyright Warner/Chappell Music had on this track is now invalid, and the company will be forced to return about $14 million to several filmmakers who were forced out to pay for using the famous song.
