The Killers, according to the lead vocalist, Brandon Flowers, are going to release their latest album anytime this year after a hiatus. Last time we heard from them, was when they released “Day & Age”. While giving an interview to BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe they revealed they are all prepared for releasing their new album and have recorded quite a few tracks in The Killer’s private studio as well. He explained; “it's just whether it's [released in] the summertime or the wintertime."
Brandon Flowers, while revealing the title of one of the songs “Battle Born”, to be included in the upcoming album, said it is going to be a ‘killer on the record”. The last album by The Killers was released back in November 2008 and the band seemed to take a backseat after the world of of their album, “Day & Age”. Although, the band didn’t come up with an album of their own all that while, Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci (Drummer) did release their solo albums, Flamingo and Big Talk respectively.
Flowers explained how the latest album by The Killers is going to vary distinctly from his solo album. Apparently, the upcoming album is "quite a bit louder than with my solo thing, so I've got to get used to that." However he said. "It's just exciting getting everyone in the room to make some noise." He further explained that the latest album will be a potpourri of a variety of sounds, influenced by their previous albums. Yet, it won’t be a complete rip off and will certainly sound appealing to the listeners.
Furthermore, Flowers said, “I think the consensus within the band is to take those things that we've done well and really hone in on that.” He continued, "We don't want to make Hot Fuss 2 or Sam's Town 2, or Day & Age 2." The band gave a wonderful performance at Lollapalooza and Hyde Park the last summer. The upcoming album, according to resources, will be produced by Steve Lillywhite, who is going to be awarded the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) title.
