The entire world is mourning the death of Tom Petty. The legendary singer died on Monday (October 2nd) and he is the one who influenced huge artists such as Miley Cyrus, Coldplay and even Taylor Swift. Many artists have recently announced that their music style would have been a lot more differently than if they didn’t listen to Tom Petty’s songs while growing up.
In fact, Taylor Swift made it pretty clear in an interview with Rolling Stone that the only reason why she picked up the acoustic guitar is because of how much she admired Tom Petty. Moreover, Taylor Swift stated the following: “To me, Tom Petty represented a kind of songwriting I idolized: complex simplicity. It said so much in the lyrics, the concepts, the stories, the message, the nuances but always brought you back to a hook that got stuck in everyone’s head”.
