Letters written by Jim Morrison and John Lennon were auctioned. The objects were on sale along with a hoard The Beatles, The Ramones and punk rebel GG Allin, marvels at the auction of Modern Music.
Jim Morrison's letter was written at L'Hotel in Paris, where the artist moved before he finished recording The Doors "LA Woman" in March 1971, about three months before his death.
In that letter, Jim Morrison wrote: "Sorry not to have written sooner. It doesn't seem like I've been here this long. We've been travelling – in Spain, (Granada was best) Morocco, Southern France & Corsica – where I lost my jacket, money etc. & had to fly back to Paris to wait for more. If Sicily is anything like Corsica you'll probably love it. We'll be back in Paris around June 7 thru Sept. There's an extra room so please stay w/ us. How is everything? Say hello to everyone & try to get over here."
Who wants to have this letter must shell out 14,863 pounds.
Letter of John Lennon and Yoko Ono to the press officer of the Beatles, Derek Taylor, 1969, refers to a concert that is not specified.
"Audience must not be 'loaded' with 'Officials' - (Mayors and Kennedys) it must be mainly kids and critics. Any charity bits (the gate) only to be known after the event." Says Lennon.
"Don't explain us – John & Yoko. None of Yoko is a good artist but they ought to know by now" Adds Yoko.
And Lennon closes with: "Tickets shouldn't be too expensive and none of that all Bernsteins and such likes kids getting the 'best' seats at the zoo."
Price letter is 646 pounds.
