Elvis Costello, recently asked his followers, in his blog not to invest in the upcoming box set, “The Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook”, scheduled for 6th December. Alternatively, he suggested them to buy the relatively economical box set; “Ambassador of Jazz”, including the remake albums by Louis Armstrong.
Using alias “The Right Reverend Jimmy Quickly” Elvis Costello advised his fans not to invest in the rather expensive 1500-copy, that consist of one CD, a DVD and a 10" vinyl EP, along with the book and a card autographed by the singer himself. He said the price; £212.66 ($202.66) seems to be “either a misprint or a satire.”
Instead, he showed his bend toward the Armstrong box set which he called “vastly superior”. Along with the suggestion of buying the “Ambassador of Jazz”, the singer mollified his admirers and ensured that the parts of “"Return of the Spectacular Spinning Songbook" will certainly be issued separately in the upcoming year. However, indirectly pointing out in the official blog post, titled “Steal This Record”, he said, "Assuming that you have not already obtained them by more unconventional means.”
Elvis Costello is one of the singers who have sold more than 3.8 million records over just two decades. However, despite this, he has been seen supporting the illegal music download and he is not the only one; System of a Down and KidRock are also some of the musicians who have supported piracy of music. But Costellos’s recent step is to intentionally rebuff the title. In fact according to a section of society, this effort has been deliberate to actually advertise the box set, unlike what he says
