The reason coach Cee Lo Green says he’s leaving Rihanna’s tour is the new reality show ‘The Voice’ which just has one more week left before it finishes production.
The New York Times reported that Green said he’s quitting the tour mainly due to his commitments with the NBC’s singing show, but also to work on his new album and a book.
"He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to 'The Voice,' on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book," Green's spokesperson says. "He feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve."
The announcement was made soon after a fight on Twitter with a local music critic went viral, and he used some harsh words after she gave a negative review on the show. The response he gave to the critic was influenced by the identity of the critic being confused with a man and caused many to accuse him of homophobia.
Green coupled with Rihanna on the tour earlier in June which included performances in as many as 17 cities across US and Canada till the end of July.
