“Doo-Woops & Hooligans” by Bruno Mars has enjoyed being a U.K chart buster for a year now. On the other hand, Jessie J, who has been a BRIT Award nominee several times, is commemorating her 2nd chart buster solo after “Domino”.
Mars released his album last year which was placed on the No.2 spot in the second week of its release. However, the remarkable part is that it remained in the top 14 series throughout the year. According to the Official Charts Company, the album has sold around 1.28 million copies in U.K. Adele’s “21”, after being on the No.1 spot for quite some time, has dropped to the No.2 position while 3rd place was secured by the BRIT Award nominee, Ed Sheeran with her “+”. “Given To the Wild” by Maccabees, Indie rock band of London, made it to No.4 on the weekend chart. Nevertheless, this is by far the best ranking of the band as their “Color It In” was placed at No.24 back in 2007 and “Walls of Arms” at No.13 in 2009.
Rock music seems to be all the rage these days as shown by the music charts. The Vaccines with their “What Did You Expect From The Vaccines” have jumped to No.6 from being at No.16. Noel Gallagher with “High Flying Birds" climbed to No.8 from No.14 while Kasabian, Columbia rock band jumped to No.9 from No.17 with “Velociraptor”. However, no one seems capable of topping “Now! That’s What I Call Music 80”, which has been at No.1 for the 8th consecutive week.
Jessie J gave tough competition with her “Do It Like A Dude” which was placed at No.2 in 2011. However, with “Price Tag” she made it to the top in February last year an achievement repeated by her “Domino” as it sold around 57,000 copies.
Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling’ has dropped from 1-2 while Rizzle Kicks jumped to No.3 from No.5 with “Mama Do The Hump”. Lloyd’s "Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)" feat. Andre 3000 and Lil Wayne have jumped to No.5, whereas David Guetta’s “Titanium” jumped to No.8 from No.61 and enjoyed being in the top 40 for two weeks. ‘Love on Top” by Beyonce made it to No.13 and “Kiss The Stars” by Pixie Lott got a place in the top 75.
