MKTO was pop duet of Tony Oller and Malcolm Kelley, two Californian actors and singers. They worked together under this name from 2010 to 2017.
These men met at filming stages of “Gigantic” TV series from Nickelodeon. This comedy-drama show had only one season, and our guys played best friends in that show. So, it was a no-brainer to try to capitalize on viewers’ familiarity with their image. This was done when Columbia Records released their premier song “Thank You” and filmed video for it. On YouTube, it gathered more than million views in first week and duo continued to rely on video promotion ever since, with their second and third singles “Classic” and “God Only Knows” also receiving videos. After working for a few months as opening acts for Demi Lovato and Emblem3, eponymous album “MKTO” was written, recorded and finally released in late January of 2014. Allmusic website praised it, highlighting what they called thoughtful two-punch style of duet. In summer of that year they went on what was destined to be their first and last headlining tour, with Tiffany Houghton as opening act. Their last offering was extended play “Bad Girls”, which was released only in digital format. In early 2017 Tony Oller declared dissolution of duo.
