Lil Wayne, also known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is African-American rapper. He was born on 27th of September in 1982.
His career can be traced to Hot Boys band, which was formed in 1996 when Dwayne was just 15 years old. They released their first album “Get It How U Live!” very quickly, and haste in producing material was at glance there, as critics trashed album. “Guerrilla Warfare” was their second attempt and it turned out much better, debuting at fifth spot of Billboard’s 200 and selling one and half million copies since. He went solo in 1999, presenting soon-to-be platinum album “Tha Block is Hot” to the public. This level of financial success won’t be repeated by him for quite some time, with three following albums staying at gold level of certification. Only with “Tha Carter II” and “Tha Carter III”, which became platinum and triple platinum respectively, he was propelled to true stardom. “Tha Carter III” was so influential that Rolling Stone magazine included it in their “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” chart. Some singles from that album went on to become international hits such as “Lollipop”, which did well in Europe and South America. Version “IV” of this album got slightly delayed by jail sentence to Lil Wayne, which he served for illegal possession of weapon. It released in 2011. Version “V” is currently in development hell with no announcements for a number of years.
