Kris Allen is singer of American Idol fame. He was born on June 21 of 1985 in Jacksonville, Arkansas and moved to nearby Conway, to study in university. He works in pop rock and alternative rock genres.
Kris dropped out of university because of his music ambitions. He started to perform in bars of nearby cities at night, while working as salesman at shoe store at day. Thus, he was able to self-produce album “Brand New Shoes”, with title referring to his occupation. It had very limited release of just 600 copies.
Casting for season number eight of “American Idol” show took place in Louisville, and Allen took part together with brother Daniel. He did consistently well throughout entire show, winning it in May of 2009. “No Boundaries”, his coronation song, proved to be commercially successful, landing on spot 11 of Billboard’s Hot 100. This wonderful streak of successes was broken by first major label album, self-titled “Kris Allen”, released by Jive Records. It was universally panned by critics, and sales were mediocre despite debut at 11 spot of American Billboard. Since then he was very productive, releasing many albums and singles. One of most recent offerings, album “Letting You In”, is considered his best to date.
