Jason Derulo
Biography

Jason Derulo (born as Jason Joel Desrouleaux on September 21, 1989) is a well-known singer. His singles sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, with eleven of them achieving platinum status. Jason was born in Florida, in a family of immigrants from Haiti. They were francophone, and his surname was obviously too extravagant to use in Anglo-Saxon world, so he later changed it to be easily readable. He wrote a lot of song for a lot of artists since very young age. J.R. Rotem, music entrepreneur and producer, noticed Jason after he won season finale of “Showtime at the Apollo” TV show. He helped him sign contract with Warner Bros. Records. Single “Whatcha Say” was released in 2009, and was accused of plagiarism of Imogen Heap’s song. Still, it climbed to the top stop of Billboard in November of that year. Self-titled album “Jason Derulo” was released in early 2010. He did heavy promotion for this album, which included working as opening act for Lady Gaga on her Monster Ball Tour. After this, and joint single “Together” with Demi Lovato, his career was progressing quickly. By 2016 he became one of most recognizable black pop/R&B performers. He never forgets to thank Michael Jackson for this, as he was always main inspiration for Jason to start working in music.
