Biography

Halsey (real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) was born on September 29, 1994 in small town of Clark, New Jersey. She spent her childhood days there. Her mother was a hospital security official, and her father owned a car business. Her ethnic background is composed of various blood lineages, such as Hungary. Italy and Ireland on mother’s side and Africa on her father’s side. She started to earn money by playing guitar music at the age of 18, to cover the needs of rent. Before that however, she dabbled in playing cello, violin and viola. She went on playing a lot of acoustic shows in different cities under various stage names before finally setting on Halsey, which stand as anagram of her real name and Brooklyn street, where she used to hang out in her teen years. Her breakthrough came thanks to advancement of modern social technologies. That is YouTube, where she posted a few of her covers, Tumblr – where she shared her parody of Taylor Swift’s song, and SoundCloud – where she released her own song called “Ghost”. After this, she was able to secure supporting cast job for such bands as The Kooks and Imagine Dragons. And then, finally, recorded her debut electropop album “Badlands” in 2015. Soon afterwards she began writing her second album, which was called “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” and set for release in summer of 2017.
