Grateful Dead is a US rock group, which was formed in 1965 in California. They are famous for their eclectic musical style with the elements of blues, space rock, jazz, country, folk etc. Their unique live performances took the breath of their devoted fans, known as “Deadheads”. They first were called “Warlocks” before decided to change it into “Grateful Dead”.
“Mantra-Rock Dance” was one of the first musical events of the group, which was held due to the help of San Francisco Hare Krishna Temple. They performed together with a legendary founder of Hare Krishna Movement Bhaktivedanta Swami.
In 1967 Grateful Dead released their first LP “The Grateful Dead”. In 1970 the band played at the Warehouse. The album “From the Mars Hotel” was released in 1974. During their career, Grateful Dead has played almost 2,300 concerts worldwide. According to Rolling Stone, the group was included in the list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Times in 2004. In 2007 they have got a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
