George Strait

George Harvey Strait is a legendary country singer and songwriter from the United States. He was born on May 18, 1952, in Poteet, Texas. In the youth, he played in a rock and roll garage band. Later the boy began to be interested in “The Beatles”. He was also fond of Frank Sinatra, George Jones, Hank Thompson and Bob Wills. George is often called “King of Country” and is known to be one of the most popular artists of all times. The singer debuted with the song “Unwound” in 1981. All his albums from 1980-1990 hit No.1 in the country charts. At the beginning of a new century, the Academy of Country Music called George Artist of the Decade. Moreover, he was inducted into the Country Hall of Fame. The album “Troubadour” earned Strait his first Grammy Award. During his career, the singer has sold almost 100 million records in the whole world. He has got 13 multi-platinum, 33-platinum, and 38 gold album RIAA certifications. Strait is fond of fishing and playing golf. He got married in 1971 and has got 2 sons and a daughter, who was killed in a car accident in 1986.
