David Guetta

With a compilation series and an Ibiza residence both bearing the ironic name F*** Me, I’m Famous, you would be forgiven for assuming that David Guetta is one of those celebrities simply famous for being a celebrity. But the French DJ and producer earned every bit of his acclaim by repurposing soulful deep house with a shiny Gallic touch, then adding radio-ready vocals for a package that’s pure pop panache. Guetta’s producing career began in 1992 when he released “Up and Away” with Chicago vocalist Robert Owens, but he didn’t return until seven years later with the catchy tribal-house of “Just a Little More Love.” That cut became the title track of his debut album, which proved that the hit single was no fluke. Full of hooks and vocals, Just a Little More Love augmented charging house beats with touches of gospel and electro, and featured a jubilant remix of David Bowie’s classic “Heroes.” In 2004 Guetta returned with Guetta Blaster, featuring club hits such as the Depeche Mode-flavored “The World is Mine” and “Love Don’t Let Me Go Walking Away,” a smash collaboration with UK festival favorites The Egg. In 2009 he set his eyes firmly on the pop charts with One Love, featuring guest vocals from Ne-Yo, Kid Cudi and Will.I.Am.
