Biography

Billy Joel is a famous singer, songwriter, and pianist from the USA. He is best known for hits”We Didn’t Start the Fire” “Uptown Girl”, and “Piano Man”, which topped the charts in the 70s and 80s. The singer was born on May 9, 1949, in NY. His album “Greatest Hits Vol. 1& 2” has become one of the most selling in the country. He was nominated 23 times for Grammy Awards and won 6 of them. Billy sold almost 150 million records in the whole world, which made him one of the most selling singers of all times. In 1986 he released “The Bridge”. It was a co-work with Stew Wonder, Ray Charles, and Cyndi Lauper. The singles “A Modern Woman” and “Matter of Trust” became the most successful. Next year he performed in the Soviet Union, becoming the first American artist to sing there after the fall of Berlin Wall. He visited Leningrad, Moscow, and Tbilisi. A bit later, in 2001, the world saw his “Fantasies and Delusions” – collection of Billy’s piano compositions. He soon was awarded Johnny Mercer Award. He was married 3 times. In 2015 he married for the fourth time with Alexis Roderick.
